Students, Staff , University community praises FULOKOJA VC Professor Olayemi Akinwumi as construction of main access road
PROFESSOR AKINWUMI ONE-YEAR-IN-OFFICE PHOTO UPDATE:
One of the first challenges Professor Olayemi Akinwumi had to grapple with upon assumption of office as the third Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) was the dire need for the construction of the main access road linking the Gate House to the Administrative Building/Academic Areas of the Felele Campus which was not appropriated for.
In spite of this daunting challenge, the Vice-Chancellor and his Management Team were resolute in commencing full academic activities at the University’s Permanent Site (Felele Campus).
Professor Akinwumi immediately embarked on a visit to the Minister of Works and Housing, His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN to draw his attention to the deplorable state of the road, while soliciting his urgent intervention as the University was ready to fully move to the Felele Campus.
Through the consistent efforts of the Vice-Chancellor and other well-meaning individuals who facilitated the project, notably the SSA to the President on Special Duty, AIG (Rtd) Cornelius Kayode Aderanti – one of the recipients of the Honorary Doctoral Degrees (Honoris Causa) at the 5th Convocation Ceremony of the University, the contractor was mobilised to site in order to commence work on the road.
Today, the construction of this important access road at the Felele Campus has brought great relieve to staff, students and other members of the University Community, just as efforts are still on to secure the construction of the second lane.
Meanwhile, as the construction of the main access road of the Felele Campus was ongoing, another access road linking the Core Academic Area II was equally kick-started through TETFund Zonal Intervention and has been duly completed awaiting commissioning (pictures earlier posted).
These and many more are some of the notable achievements of the Professor Akinwumi-led Administration within one year in office.
